Message from the Board

 

Membership Policy

At long last, MVK has decided on its membership policy. We will have two kinds of membership. One that provides privileges, called an associate membership, and one that allows voting in general meetings, called a voting membership. Voting membership, however, requires that the member submit their real name and address, which will be held in the strictest confidence by MVK, in accordance with our privacy policy.

Associate Memberships

Application

To apply for an associate membership, the person may provide their scene name or other alias, or their real name. An associate membership must be approved by a board member.

Cost

$35-50, sliding scale, per year. Same to renew.

Privileges

Associate membership includes:

Associate membership does NOT include the right to vote in Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings.

The MVK board pledges they will give all due consideration to the wishes and opinions of the associate members.

Voting Memberships

A voting membership must be approved by the Directors or their designate, as stated in the Bylaws.

To apply for a voting membership, the person must submit their legal name and address. MVK holds member personal information in the strictest confidence and will not sell, trade or share this information with any outside entity. The member database will be held in an encrypted file and only accessible to MVK’s president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.

Cost

$5 per year, accompanied by $5 admission voucher for MVK events. Same to renew. Lasts until end of calendar month, next year.

Privileges

Voting membership includes

• Voting rights at the Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings

Voting membership provides no other privileges. 

 

Pride volunteer callout

Vancouver Pride is fast approaching, and we need people to be part of one of Vancouver's biggest parties! We'll have a parade contingent and a booth at the festival, and the more people at either, the better.

Eastside Vancouver Munch

MVK's Eastside Vancouver Munch moves into its new venue at Zawa Restaurant on the Drive. 

 

Location: Zawa Restaurant, 920 Commercial and Venables, Vancouver BC

 

Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm, Wednesday May 20th and the third Wednesday of each month.

Recession Kink: 14 cheap and easy toy ideas

The Great Recession is tough on everybody, including those who just aren't satisfied with their human bodies. When custom made whips get too expensive, there are plenty of low cost ways of having fun, most of which are available at your local hardware or dollar store. Cheap toys also have the advantage that if they get contaminated by body fluids, you can easily dispose of them and acquire replacements.

• Saran wrap. Fun for bondage, up to and including full body mummifcation. Combine with duct tape or colored electrical tape.
• Bamboo skewers. Good for poking and scratching.
• Clothepins. They can be attached to pretty much any bit of loose skin on a person.
• Mousetraps, used much like clothespins.
• Makeup brushes. For sensation play
• Ping pong paddles, for light impact
• Hairbrushes, for impact and friction play
• Paraffin candles for hot wax, preferably the cheap, white kind
• Bandannas for blindfolding, gags, light bondage or CBT
• Toothbrushes with the little rubber pick on the end have a multitude of uses, including friction and impact
• Snake bite kits for suction on nipples and other body parts
• Mentholated rubs for sensation play
• Leather thongs for CBT and other forms of bondage
