Motion to approve revised minutes of previous meeting: carried unanimously

Postpone discussing edu coord until IL arrives. 

 

May 2nd planning

DaM says things going well with VASM.

 

LR asked to see VASM's rules, as they will be used on afternoon of May 2nd.

 

DaM estimates 20-25 people attending. Would like to do it as a regular thing. VASM knows this is the introductary price.  

 

PT asks why not promoting via Facebeook, Fetlife, etc. DaM says this is VASM's first event, want to keep it manageable. 20-25 will be a core group that will spread word of later events. 

 

Action: DaM to send VASM leadership's emails to LR and GF 

 

Workshop: considering live projection during event using camera. Might videotape as well.  LR says make live announcement before workshop that there will be a camera on site, and it will be focussed tight on the action, not the th

 

LR won't be present for party on May 2nd. Will leave around 6pm, won't return until 11pm or midnight. GF will be LR's designated substitute, including paying DM team. KL will also be present.

 

YT still has burgundy cage. No response yet.

Needs pickup at DaM's place on May 2nd. Especially the cross from Sin City. Needs to be replaced.

 

DaM wants a callout for dead waterbed frames to make St Andrew's crosses. Ours are 2" too long to fit in standard vehicles. Also wants budget to put wheels on things to make them easier to move. ~$150

 

Action: DaM make price list for putting wheels on things and present at next meeting.

 

Motion to allocate $100 to DaM: tabled.

 

Capri may be changing the area we store our stuff in, to only one story below ground level. Would lose access to rear parking door. Discuss next meeting.

Education Coordinator

IL is present. His concern is how his project, Kink 101, will intersect with MVK. LR suggests

 

IL doesn't want to give Kink 101 away completely. Lots of things he still wants to do, under his own banner.

 

GF asks if IL wants to co-brand. IL's concern is over-reaching.

 

LR asks does IL want volunteers or money? IL says it needs promotion. Someone to help move furniture would be nice.

 

IL offers time, effort and developing contacts as volunteer coord.

 

DaM aks, what can IL do for MVK? What topics can he provide? IL says STI workshop, First aid workshop, different relationship types (e.g. polyamory). 

 

LR says May, June and July workshops are booked. Only need 2 workshops booked this year. Asks IL for names and ideas for August and September. IL agrees. 

 

GF asks will there be conflicts or synergy. IL sees this as a good idea.

 

DaM says we will maintain good relations with IL regardless.

 

PT asks, if Kink 101 and MVK co-brand events, how are profits/revenues shared? IL says that he pays presenter and then vendor, which doesn't leave a lot. Views this as a non-profit, community service. If at some point there is profit, he will discuss it then.

 

GF: are we exchanging IL's work as workshop coord for MVK promoting Kink 101 events via our mailing list?

 

LR: says we're still looking for August and September workshop topics. Asks IL to come back with offer.

 

GF says we will not share mailing list.

 

IL says he would like MVK to promote May 1st SM 101 (presented by RD). LR will discuss.

 

PT says don't put non-MVK events on our Google Calendar, our mailing list or our newsletter or our Facebook group. We will put Kink 101 event in our "Vancouver BDSM" calendar. 

 

LR points out we can't verify the quality of a workshops that aren't ours, so we can't promote them as MVK events Table this until next board meeting.

 

LR: 3 workshops are confirmed. June:Knifeplay with lousise. July: caning/paddling with Hauke. October: cell popping with Elwood (confirmed).

 

DaM says Lee Harrington could be here after Paradise. Also talked to Dossie Easton at IMSL. 

 

LR would like to bring back whip enthusiast group. 

 

Romhan would like to see point person on accessibility at parties and other events, provide feedback about accessibility, increase awarness of access on web site and promotion, physical space and planning at events.

 

DrM asks R. about privacy versus accessibility at Zawa for Eastside Munches. Rom offers to look at Zawa to consider options.

 

R. asks about "accessibility coord" badge at parties. Would also like a document about accessibility at front desk, feedback form. Says Buzzer is well received, but people have to be let through middle of dungeon space doesn't work so well. Also accessible signage on larger accessible washroom, and training front desk staff about this.

 

Action: R. to write accessiblity coord position and handbook for accessibility (one-page)

Action: PT to setup access@metrovancouverkink.com, and send link of constitution to R.

 

R. uses "they" and "them" pronouns.

 

June 09 party

Knifeplay with Louise.

 

PT would like to see another newcomers event.

 

DMs having community meeting 3-5pm at venue, no time left.

 

LR suggests Newcomers tentatively in July. Who wants to host it?

 

IL suggests a more structure. Information, figure of authority or moderator. Information on technique, safety. Or set up a topic for discussion.

 

LR brings up difference between workshop and discussion group. Host to moderate?

 

LR suggests River Light as moderator.

 

GF says promote it as widely as possible, reach newcomers.

 

DrM won't be at party on June 09, but wants to have 50/50 draws in June and July.

DaM checked with truck rental 22'x8' flatbed for $104.95 + $0.60/km. Doesn't need special license, DaM will drive. Credit card desposit. DaM set a reservation.

 

DrM: no plan yet, no vision.

 

Nathan volunteered to be stunt bottom.

 

DrM hopes to pay for 1/2 of Pride with fundraising. Notes lack of enthusiasm from Facebook group.

 

Action: DrM to get license for 50/50 for May 2nd

 

GF willing to allocate $400.

 

GF reconsiders and says that we are allocating community money. Compare $200 event, with on foot and parade, versus big $400-$800

LR says, if deadline for parade June 30th, we committ $200, then see if we can raise another $200 towards event.

 

Motion to allocate $200 towards Pride and related expenses: carried unanimously.

Cards not ready by May 2nd.

 

Car free festival

Free and they provide tent. GF says better to provide info booth, not tent with play inside. Especially problem with sound of play, people screaming, etc.
