Taboo debrief
2 people volunteered to be newsletter proofreader. Login for private Wiki? Upgrade to wiki with better control of permissions? Gravedigger will connect them (Susan and Beth) will connect with Communications Coord.
MVK’s relationship with Sin City has improved. There will be better communications for the Abbotsford event.
Some conflicts over DMing and scheduling. DMs weren’t subtle about enforcing rules and schedules. Also problem of bullwhip stunting.
LS says we need better scheduling, better communication, better chain of command. Establish who has authority (MVK, Sin City, DMs)
Brought in ~110 email addresses for mailing list. Spike in web site traffic on the 18th, moved a lot of flyers and lots of 3-fold brochures
GD wants greeter@metrovancouverkink.com email set up. Action PT
Prof Oni suggests script for volunteers in future public events, with call to action.
Spencer says at Wet Spot (CSPC) has greeter or welcome wagon, and so should we. Suggest somebody who’s “hypersocial” for this, preferably female, preferably a sub. Something visual like a DM sash, but different. LR suggests Diva for the role. Ask Diva how she would like to be identified.
RP suggests that people were curious, but nobody knew who to ask. More people available to ask for things.
GD: we need pamphlets or flyers explaining edgeplay, this is a demo, not everybody does this. Signs? Script for greeters? Talking points. People can be hesitant to ask questions.
2 new vendors, one confirmed, one possible. Erotic Leather from Toronto selling through David Chan Photography. Will come to space on Saturday and see space Saturday evening. Leather masks. GD suggests have them on April party, with roleplay schedule.
We need more and bigger banners. GD suggests 3’x9’. Spencer says half of banners in the Pride parade were oversize for the supposed limits anyway.
Abbotsford Tabboo is March 27-29.
Feb. 7th Planning
Afternoon Rope group
Prof. Oni is unclear on what rope gathering in afternoon is like. What is his role? What is the liability issue? He will do one or two suspensions, and field questions, but not instructing directly.
Tristan will demonstrate but not teach in afternoon. GF will announce that people are playing at their own risk. SM says enough eyes to watch people and keep people from being too dangerous. LR’s thought is this will be more for beginners.
Whip group:
Spencer will be the person opening the door and keeping an eye on things.
Dinner/Meeting
Setup tables as usual. No handouts for discussions of sex in dungeon or members
Slideshow
Free vs copyrighted images. GD: Some of the copyrighted images have logos and URLs, and by showing them we are endorsing the image owners.
GD will build database of images we can use, and have right to, with local photogs.
PT will prepare free images slideshow in Powerpoint and give to GD for display using his laptop.
Can use images from lifestyleimages.org, given verbal permission by Prof. O.
Venue says heating was working normally. Get electric heaters if possible for front hall to make things easier for volunteers.
PT will talk to TAOL for lube donations, or public health
Membership policy
Public post of refined policy. Put on LJ or some other forum (e.g. Fetlife, main MVK site). See if public wiki will allow comments from general public.
Law enforcement issues. LR will talk to Sarah (aka Blaze) a law student, for legal advice. GD will talk to Karen of PIVOT. Peter suggested talking to John Ince, of TAOL. Spencer referred to John Chu. RP said Reive D. has liaison with VPD and RCMP. Trailmaster(Bruce) has worked with VPD.
Waivers? Are they worth the paper they’re printed on? They’re a deterrent at best.
Post on BDSM and the Law on Fetlife. Ask other groups about legal liability (e.g. TES, CSPC, etc)
What do we do if we are subpoenaed about our records? Do we have to have real names?
SM was a member of VASM for a long time, and they incorporated in 1992. Never had membership requested. Doesn’t think paranoia is warranted.
Encryption of database files? GD: Use opensource and free GPG for encryption.
Lots of requests from community about privacy and security.
Prof.O suggests not soliciting information, but instead soliciting for membership committee. Not public consultation. Don’t invite public to write
No handout for membership or sex in dungeon discussions on Saturday, Feb. 7th. Discussion is not binding.
GD suggests experimental party with sex allowed on Dungeon. Others say that won’t reveal the long term issues of the change of the policy. Also potential of too many single males, or swingers attending and diluting event. Debate over BDSM is sex vs. BDSM is separate from sex. Legal issues? Will hall allow it? SM suggests trial run of 3 months.

April or May. LR hasn’t talked to venue about permission for cooking yet. Technically needs FoodSafe
March 7
No workshop yet. LR asks Tristan or Prof. Oni to do rope workshop. Would rather do non-suspension workshop. Prof O will waive stipend for both workshops. Prof O and Tristan will collaborate.
Committee reports
GD suggests women to be “voice of MVK” for phone number. Need a script. Performers will work in exchange for putting this on their resume.

LR wants to borrow the template for Joomla she’s developing for her work. Joomla is not that complicated. Template under LR’s copyright.
SM suggests mascot, balloon or other sign to attract people at Munchs. Prof. O suggested, “Ask for the computer group.” Or sign that says, “MVK Munch”. Ilya donated stuffed bear.
New Business
Abbotsford Taboo
GD working with Sin City. Writing a new flyer/FAQ. Will contact Deeva / J re. recruiting those in the valley.
F212 bathhouse for revival of Slick
Spencer doesn’t want to be involved in reviving slick, as he will be busy with personal matters. Running a bath house event. LR doesn’t want to run it either. GD would rather do it as an MVK specific event, without sharing it with other attendees. SM says Slick concept has at least partially proven concept. GD says lots of interest from various communities.
PT will forward F212 contact info to GD. RP will help GD.
Discussion over which weekday to do it. GD will approach f212 management. Try to get a cut. Also look at layout.
