Approve previous meeting minutes - 4/0/1 - Rosina abstains - Passed

September 6 party planning

  * Policy for disruptive scenes

    - Greg emailed Arli about it and posted the response to the LJ

    - Possibly use the mezzanine for quiet play space

    - Possibly have scenes that involve more than 3 people cleared with the DMs

      Motion by draya to create a rule to manage the disruptive scene, Spencer seconded. 5/0/0 - Passed

     

      New Rule:

      Scenes involving 4 or more people must be cleared with the DMC

  * Equipment Maintenance

    - meshe has borrowed a palm sander

    - Spencer will take care of the cross at his house

  * Snack Bar Manager

    - Spencer will contact Sherri about the position

  * Equipment at Spencer's from Slick

    - Spencer will ask Sherri if she can move the equipment to Capri

  * Volunteer Driving

    - Spencer will ask Brad if he will do volunteer driving

Workshops

  - Joe Wheeler and John Ireland are interested in doing workshops for MVK

Slick committee report

  * Renegotiate admission fees

    - Spencer is going to try to work out a better deal on admissions, hopefully by Saturday.

  - We need to do a couple more before we know what it can really do.

  - Discuss the volunteer counts, possibly less volunteers.

AGM Committee Report

  * Ombud position

    - meshe to draw up the details for the Ombud position

  * Recruitment

    - A number of people have expressed interest

  * Peter to fix the announcement times for the AGM

  * Rosina is going to have the financial report ready for the AGM

  * Anniversary cake

    - Rosina will pick up 2 cakes at Costco and meshe will decorate

  * AGM Committee Chair

    - Peter will see if BJ is still going to be chair, if not Peter be chair

Other Business

  * Shared art space

    - Possible other location for events

      - 3000 sq ft

      - $100/mo

      - includes 24 hours access and 8 hours/mo

  * Increasing admission to workshops

    - Other workshops in the area are at the lowest $20, most around $30

    - Spencer suggests a sliding scale like $10-$20

      - Peter is going to put up an LJ post to discuss

  * Photo shoot to build our own archive of promotional image

    - Spencer will ask Brad if he will do it and what he wants in return.

      - Possibly offer a pass to a number of MVK events

    - Use real people - volunteers, not professional models

    - Differentiate from Rascals by modifying the images so they are less photographic and more artsy

    - Draya will take equipment photos with her new camera

  * Board members to appear on Juicebox Radio at CITR to promote AGM

    - Peter has sent them an email about getting on their show and hasn't received a response yet

    - Rosina will contact Julia and see if they can work it out.

  * Ways to improve experience for MVK volunteers

    - Rosina is going to talk to Capri about using their storage space

      - Storage space is underground

      - Require building a storage box

    - Teardown on Sunday morning instead of Saturday night.

    - Motion to change the volunteer policy to: Volunteers doing setup and teardown is party and workshop free +1 guest 5/0 - Passed

  * Equipment building

    - meshe's father is a woodworker and can build equipment, would help if someone could take him to a Rascals event and show him around.

New Business

  * Space proposal from Shaira

    - 2500 sq ft

    - $700 - $800/mo

    - use twice a month

    - storage included

    - Rosina is going to check it out and also forward email to VASM

  * Capri is looking for a long term commitment 1 year

    - Rosina will look into what the penalty for breaking the committment is.

  * East Van munch

    - Problems finding a place, draya is still looking

    - Possibly Banners, the food is not that good.

    - Keep it at the End for September
